Hello and welcome to Wheek Retreat! My name is Ellys Brown and I am a University Student studying for a degree in Animal Behaviour and Welfare. I specialise in caring for small animals, in particular Guinea Pigs! I also care for Gerbils, Hamsters, Rats, Mice, Degus and Chinchillas. I offer a safe and comfortable stay for your pets whilst you are away!
I own many guinea pigs of my own, living in their own separate accommodation. I look after my own gerbils and hamsters. As well as this I regularly volunteer with the RSPCA, helping to look after their small animals. I have also previously studied Veterinary Nursing at a degree level, and whilst I am not qualified, it furthered my knowledge in animal care.
I also offer grooming services for your Guinea Pigs such as bathing, nail clipping and hair brushing/clipping for a small fee.
When staying with us, your pet can expect daily feeding, cleaning, cuddles and playtime. I have an outdoor and indoor run for summer and winter, as well as air conditioning and heating. They will be housed in a secured, locked outbuilding for the duration of their stay, in separate hutches. We also operate 24 hour monitored CCTV for your pet’s safety.
Indoor housing for guinea pigs in an outbuilding, including air conditioning, heating, daily playtime and feeding. Housed in standard 4ft hutch or large 6ft hutch. Includes their daily food in the form of hay, vegetables, nuggets/pellets (I will feed all guinea pigs Burgess Excel Nuggets, unless their own nuggets are brought with them). Bedding is provided - I use bath mats and fleece liners to line the base of their hutches - Feel free to bring your guinea pigs’ own blankets/liners and hides.
Indoor housing for gerbils, hamsters, rats, mice, degus and chinchillas - own cages and food must be brought by owners.
Guinea pigs need their nails trimmed at least every 4 weeks, they need to be bathed at least twice a year or whenever dirty, and long haired guinea pigs need their hair trimmed and brushed regularly in order to keep their coats healthy and stay cool in the summer.
Grooming services for Guinea Pigs includes nail clipping, bathing and hair brushing/trimming.
